JUICY’S STORY

It was 1951. A man by the name of Chuck Bradley, who spent considerable time with a fishing pole in his hand, came to the Colorado River with his beautiful wife, Betty Jo, his pint-sized son Mikey, and the family dog. The dog’s name was Juicy. Fishing out on the lake one morning, ominous black clouds began a rapid descent onto the family. Chuck quickly navigated the small dingy back to shore only to have the dang dog Juicy suddenly jump from the boat after some small animal. Of course, they looked and called for days, but Juicy, I guess had bigger fish to fry. I’ve since spent a few quiet nights wondering whatever happened to that dang dog there along the Colorado River…Maybe he caught that animal.

About 30 years later, no longer pint-sized, I returned to the area my Dad and I used to go fish, which was now called Lake Havasu. Not much quality in the restaurants I tried in town, so loving this place the way I did, I opened Juicy’s River Café, which is known in Havasu as the best place to get great service, reasonable prices and the best dang food you ever ate.

I was at the restaurant one day when a guy from Needles came in, a real regular who made the trip back and forth on business. He said he knew the history of the name Juicy’s and commented he’d seen a dog howlin’ up a storm by the river the other night. I wondered if Juicy may have pups. I couldn’t find the dog but found a real need for a great restaurant in Needles. So now we have Juicy’s great food, great prices and great service in both locations
